Letter from

the EDITOR

“Your ‘why’ should make you cry”

Discover the Phoenix Region Magazine has been a labor of love. Publishing and launching the first

issue for this region is exciting. Getting to know the people, places and culture of this region and

putting it in one place to be shared gives me great pride.

There are several reasons why I am honored and delighted to introduce Discover the Phoenix

Region Magazine. When I relocated from Ohio in 2005 and began to call Arizona home,

I recognized the need for a tool that would help people tell their story—be it es-

tablished residents, new residents, or businesses. We bring to this new publica-

tion the success and expertise of Discover the Dayton Region Magazine, a

publication that has over a twenty-year history and is the “go-to” resource for

Business to Business. Similarly, the Discover the Phoenix Region Magazine

will have a plethora of resources for you, including maps, events, business

listings and great stories of Phoenix. I’m sure you will come to cherish

this magazine the same way Dayton residents cherish theirs.

I have to admit that this was probably the hardest economy in which

to launch a new magazine, but it was also the most perfect timing. The

Phoenix region is alive and growing stronger every day. With the heart

of the economy starting to come to life again, Discover the Phoenix Re-

gion Magazine is in the forefront of promoting all of the riches from our

region. And like many Phoenix residents, what I see when I look around

are warm faces, kind hearts and a good, hard-working economy that will

prosper through and come out ahead.

Discover the Phoenix Region Magazine would not be possible if it was

not for the hard work of our Partner magazine and President Eve Georgiou

and Vice President, Steven Feaster. This year they have also expanded

a new magazine for the Northeast Ohio region. To the Phoenix crew, my

partner Rick Rome, all of our contributing writers, designers, and photographers,

so many thanks to you.

I started this letter with a saying I love—“Your ‘why’ should make you

cry”. These have always been wonderful words that tied back to my

beautiful family. Now, these words tie back to my new “family” as

well—the Phoenix region and its residents. Thank you, Phoenix,

for welcoming our magazine! The people, places, and attractions

I have found along the way have given me a new “why” and I

know you will enjoy this magazine as much as I do.

Warmly,

JodieWilson
